Borovets Ski Runs

Bulgaria’s oldest
ski resort is built on the slopes of Mt Musala (2925m), one of the highest peaks in the Balkans. Only 70 kms from Sofia, Borovets
is the most developed and compact resort in the country, and has twice hosted world cup alpine ski rounds. About 1.5m of snow
is almost guaranteed between November and April. The 23 ski runs (including the longest in Bulgaria) are mostly in the main
three areas of Markudjika, Yastrebets and Sitnyakovo-Martinovi Baraki. The four cross-country trails total about 19kms, and
start about 2kms on foot from Borovets. There are plenty of well qualified and multi-lingual instructors willing to teach
you the art of skiing.
Markudjika, the third region,
is the highest in the mountain at 2550m above the sea level with the longest lasting snow cover. One of them - Markudjik 3
has been approved by International Skiing Federation for giant slalom competitions.
Cross-country
and biathlon tracks are located 2 km away from the resort together with the cross-country tuition tracks. The runs for the
ski jumps are 75 and 50 m long and are serviced by a chair lift.
